Arrow Bounce

Corner bumpers send arrows around the bend, and every level has a clock. Moves are unlimited; time is not.

How bumpers work

Some cells hold a bumper, a diagonal bar like a mirror. When an arrow flies into a bumper it turns 90° and keeps going, and it can bounce off several bumpers on the way out. An arrow can leave if the whole bent path, from its head to the edge, is free of other arrows.

Arrows never sit on a bumper, and no path in our levels bounces around forever. Every level is generated so that each arrow has a clear bent path once the arrows in its way are gone, then checked by our solver.

Unlimited moves, limited time

The clock starts with your first tap, so you can study the board first. Blocked taps cost nothing but a miss on the results screen; the only way to lose is to run out of time, and then you simply try again. Time limits grow with the board, from 40 seconds on the first level to 115 on the biggest ones.

Tips for bumper boards

  • Trace each path with your eyes: follow the arrow until it hits a bumper, turn, and keep going to the edge.
  • A bumper can send an arrow back across the board, so an arrow pointing away from a crowded area may still be blocked.
  • Use the free study time before your first tap to find two or three free arrows.
  • As in every arrow puzzle, any free arrow is a safe move, so tap quickly once you have found one.

Inspired by recent arrow games

Bumpers and a per-level clock come from a newer wave of arrow escape games. Arrow Bounce is our own take on the idea, with original levels and no lives, ads or purchases.
