How the arrow maze puzzle works

The rule is the one you know: tap an arrow and it leaves the board if the line from its head to the edge is empty. In Arrow Maze some cells hold a stone. Stones never move and can never be removed. No arrow on our boards points straight at a stone, since it could never leave, but the stones decide which rows and columns stay open and force the arrows to wind around them.

That changes how the board looks and how you read it. Every level is generated so that each arrow has a way out that avoids the stones once the arrows in front of it are gone, and checked by our solver before it is published.

Tips for stone mazes

  • Stones never sit in an arrow's way out on our boards, so when you check an arrow, only the other arrows in its line matter.
  • Stones make the board look busier than it is. Look past them and scan each row and column for an empty line to the edge.
  • Long arrows bend around the stones, but as always only the head and the line in front of it decide whether an arrow can leave.
  • As in every arrow puzzle, any free arrow is a safe move: removing arrows never makes a level impossible.

20 levels, two spikes

Arrow Maze starts on a 5×5 board with a couple of stones and grows to 9×9 boards with up to 10 stones. Levels 10 and 20 are the hardest. Your progress is saved in this browser, and you can play the levels in any order.
